It would be a relatively shorter day today, with Llama Ranch as the destination. It is a bit of a misnomer since they don’t have Llamas, but they do have Alpacas. It is a ranch owned by Barbara and John, and they offer free lodging services to cyclists doing the GDMBR. They have been doing that since the route was first started. They have all these different “tiny homes” in the field near their house where you can stay. Really neat and a “must visit” place on the GDMBR. They offer food (sandwiches) and drinks for free as well, and they don’t accept any payment. All they ask is that you carry this gift forward to someone else in need.

Andy and I arrived before the rest of the cyclists, so we nabbed one of the better “lodges”, the “Blue house”. We sat around a pavilion John had built and chatted with him a bit. They typically get hundreds staying at their ranch each year, so he has to repeat the story of the ranch and rules every time. He didn’t seem to mind.
More cyclists started to pour in and it was starting to get a bit loud. I wish we would have picked a lodge a bit further removed from the rest. Oh well, I guess it is part of the experience..
