Day 11- Lincoln

It was quite a contrast between last night and this morning. There was much chatting and social activity going on outside the church before bedtime. In the morning most got up around 6am and it was all about efficiency in packing stuff away and getting ready for the ride coming up. Hardly a word was spoken, as if it was some type of competition. The “Stray Bullet” cafe opened up at 7am for breakfast, and that seemed the goal of many. Others were cooking their own oats and coffee, probably to save some cost. It was Sunday, so there was a church service planned at 10am, and we all pitched in to make everything clean and organized again for the locals. Sean from Scotland drew the short straw and had to unplug the toilet. 😷

The special at the Stray Bullet was Cinnamon roll pancakes with eggs & bacon. Yep, one order for me please. No maple syrup required. I neglected to take a picture, but use your imagination.

The goal today was across a big pass towards the town of Lincoln. Again, some hike-a-bike required to get to the summit. A lot of times it was more about large loose rocks that were hard to bike uphill over.

Couple from Wisconsin

We arrived in Lincoln early afternoon and had a burger for lunch. Unfortunately there isn’t much variety of culinary choices in these small towns. A group of riders decided to head on to Llama Ranch for the day which was another 30 miles and another pass. A few of us stayed in Lincoln. Not that Lincoln had a lot to offer, although they were finishing up a chain carving contest in the middle of town. I didn’t get to see them create their artwork, but did see the results. I was impressed!

For dinner, Andy (South Africa), Javier (Puerto Rico), Marek (Czech Republic), and I went to a small place to have pizza for a change. Really nice to have so many different nationalities on this route! We have had a lot of fun sharing experiences on the trip so far. Nice to get different perspectives of what we all see.

Day 58- Columbus and the end

It definitely was not a very restful night, and I was glad morning light was on the horizon. I went back into the community center to get so...
